Stock up on stockings and tights for girls

The nip in the air is making throngs of parents wardrobe shopping for their little ones. Sure, you need a sweater or two, a jacket and mittens. But what if there was something, which you could get to instantly update your summer clothes and make them look fantastic and feel warm for the winter?

Tights and stockings for girls are the perfect items of clothing to update her wardrobe this winter. Pair them up with dresses, tunics and even shorts! They also come in an endless range of colors and patterns. This way you can get a new look just by changing the color of stocking or tights you team up your other clothes with. They are great to invest in; there is no need to buy entirely new outfits.

Stockings are usually made with a thin material; hence they may be suitable for the beginning of winter, when the temperatures haven’t dropped as much. However, as the winter progresses and the temperatures really start to dip, it is best to buy some tights. Tights for girls are available in all materials and colors. Although tights come in various materials like nylon and silk, woolen tights are best for the winter

Once you have put together a look with maybe a plain dress and a glittering pair of tights or a plain tunic and a pair of animal print stockings, it is time to look for the perfect footwear. Usually boots or sandals go well with tights. It is fun to pair up tights for girls with contrasting shoes. Tights which cover the entire feet are perfect with boots since it eliminates the need for socks and also, the sleekness of the foot makes the boots look even more chic.

Although most tights and stockings for girls are free size, it is important however to check size charts and ask for assistance before you buy a pair. As classy as stockings and tights may look, an ill-fitting pair can destroy a look.

Also, kids tend to be rough with their clothing so it is important to buy tights or stockings for girls that are at least 15percent Lycra or spandex. This ensures that they last longer. Another trick to making tights last is to freeze them. Wash them under running water and put them in a freezer bag and freeze the tights. Once frozen, take the tights out and allow them to thaw naturally. This will strengthen the fibers of the tights and make them last much longer.

So while buying tights or stockings, don’t be afraid to experiment with color. Be open to everything from orange to neons. And never compromise on the quality of the tights and stockings. A higher thread count indicates better quality. These will last longer and not tear as easily. The lower quality tights may be cheap but you will need to replace them frequently, so ultimately it makes sense to go in for the better quality ones.

This winter, don’t spend a bomb updating your little girl’s wardrobe. Invest in a few versatile and good quality tights and stockings and layer them with other items from her wardrobe to get a new look each time.
